Throughout life, we tend to encounter problems or unexpected situations that may cause personal harm or illness, some of which may even be related to our mental health. Such conditions must be treated by qualified medical staff in highly specialised healthcare centres, such as the mental health hospital «Quinta Médica de Reposo».
It was then, following the opening of its new centre in the Canary Islands, that the hospital decided to update the corporate identity of its clinics and consulting rooms dedicated to the psychiatric and psychological treatment of patients.
In this way, the new logo devised for the clinic is characterised by an almost dynamic design, full of expressiveness and symbolism. Its emblem resembles a neuron with five dendrites, which in turn is associated with the spark of healthy life, the word «Quinta», and the psychiatric nature of the centre. All of this is outlined in a simple and modern manner, so that its form appears pure, cheerful and somewhat informal.
Furthermore, the initials included in the logo have been rendered in a rational and minimalist style, clearly communicating the company’s identity. The letters feature purely geometric and clean forms that recall the aesthetic of the Bauhaus. With regard to its colours, orange has been used to convey brightness and luminosity. In addition, the various divisions that make up the hospital have been described and distinguished by means of a light blue heading which, as with the emblem, conveys life and healthiness. The Neuropolitical typeface was chosen for this purpose, lending a certain technological character to the emblem.
Throughout the remainder of the project, and particularly in the development of the stationery and signage for the medical centre, care was taken to maintain the same minimalist and rational approach embodied in the company’s logo. The aim was to ensure that the signage would be easily legible and intuitive, as well as visually striking, bringing vitality and optimism to the interior of the hospital and to the patients admitted there.
