For my participation in the philatelic competition “Disello”, organised by the Spanish postal company CORREOS, I designed a stamp of great symbolism and with clear expressionist features, in which a sun adorned with radiant and warm rays is represented in a synthetic manner. These rays not only convey Spain’s most characteristic climatic feature, but also the warmth with which the hospitable Spanish people customarily welcome and receive the numerous visitors who come to my country throughout the year.
Thus, to create its design, I used several areas with different shades of orange which, distributed radially around a yellowish sun circle, convey the feeling of a warm atmosphere with high temperatures, as is the case during the summer months in Spain. This brightly shining sun also symbolizes my country's openness to other cultures, a circumstance that has been reflected in the richness and cultural diversity it has acquired throughout history.
